I watched and re-watched 借りぐらしのアリエッティ "Kari-gurashi no Arietti" ("The Borrower Arrietty"), the anime by Studio Ghibli that came out last year. I it so much!!! It's definitely one of my favourite animes I cry every time I watch it, it's so moving. So here's little Arrietty I tried my green ink^^ Spiller
[EDIT] You can watch it here with English subtitles: [link]
Oh! I was thinking about you when I was in Okinawa- I went to an exhibition of layout art from about 25 Studio Ghibli movies. It. was. AMAZING. I felt like I was walking through my childhood. At the end you could draw on a sticker and put it up on the wall, so I drew a white totoro and put it with some other ones to keep it company. The only bummer was that I can't read Japanese well enough to understand their explanations of all the technical terms they use on the layout art. :/
I gather from the internet all the images that inspire me, then I just start....but yeah sometimes I need to plan it on another sheet of paper, like I did for this one: [link] And sometimes I'm satisfied with my first try, and other times I need to paint it like 5 or 6 times to get it right....well it depends, really thanks so much for asking!!!
Yes, actually, I DID like it! It was a lot less...out there...compared with Miyazaki's other movies, very calm and collected and a little slow in some spots, but that's probably because HE didn't direct this time. XD Still, it was very sweet, and I am going to buy it when it comes out! *U*
And you're so welcome! You totally deserve all praise awarded you! *U*
Nice!!! it is really what i saw in the film!!! I Just watch borrower Arrietty recently, i really like the film!!! but i feel that the movie was a little short, like 1.5 hours. I thought ending they will show what will happen after the borrowers migrate.
And do you guys feel the same, every time after you have watched a film by hayao miyazaki, you will feel that something is missing in your life. It is like "if only it is real", the feeling... hahah that is what I feel.
Anyway good effort!! you have captured the essence of arrietty!!! haha
I haven't had a chance to see this movie yet, but I'm definitely planning to! I love Studio Ghibli's work and hope to someday be an intern there... Of course, I highly doubt that will happen, but a girl can dream...
